This new Greenpeace report “How green is your cloud” confirms that greenIT and decarbonisation are still a distant dream.
It’s an interesting article, but the tone suggests that this is somehow surprising. It’s as if nobody bothered to look at the increasing use of electronic devices, remember that they run on electricity, and then realize what those two things together would mean. As intelligent and useful as online resources claim to be, we still haven’t figured out how to engineer our way out of the reality that computers need juice.
