"The economic and financial crisis has laid bare the weaknesses of the dominant growth model in no uncertain terms. Manifestly, this growth, which was largely abandoned to market forces, was not sustainable. This is shown as well by the crisis in the European Monetary Union. Now, a taskforce of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung presents a roadmap for »Social Growth«." (Source: Social Europe Journal)
Excellent alternative economic vision from the Friedrich-Ebert Foundation although it underestimates the biophysical constraints of our economy and is a bit too quick in its rejection of more radical economic growth critics. Must-read nevertheless for anyone interested in a new progressive and socially just economy.
To complement this social alternative vision, read the more ecologically inspired “Premises for a New Economy” published in January 2012 by the Great Transition Initiative.
